San Francisco offers a dreamlike setting for couples to say their "I dos." With its iconic landmarks and breathtaking waterfront views, this vibrant city sets the stage for an unforgettable celebration of love. April and Jakkree's summer reception at Log Cabin by Wedgewood Weddings was an absolute delight, filled with stunning views and memorable moments.
Hear from the couple themselves as to why they wanted to tie the knot at the Log Cabin:
We absolutely fell in love with the location of the Log Cabin. The views of both downtown San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge drew us in. The best part was how amazing the weather turned out to be in June. It was incredibly gloomy and foggy the entire week, and we were so worried we wouldn't be able to show our guests the views and exactly why we chose the Log Cabin to begin with! It was amazing that by the weekend, Karl the fog had cleared away, and we were left with sunny and clear views that truly made our day a quintessentially San Franciscan wedding!
On the big day, April and Jakkree did a small tea ceremony at the historic Lodge at the Presidio, conveniently located just about a mile from Log Cabin. April discussed how she and Jakkree incorporated their cultures into their day:
We had a Chinese tea ceremony before the start of the reception offsite. I wore my traditional Chinese attire to the reception for cocktail hour and was able to show many of my non-Chinese friends and family my culture. Jakkree also wore a tie made of Thai silk with elephants on it to represent his Thai culture.
The festivities kicked off with a delightful and sunny cocktail hour on the terrace and lawn. The talented photographers from One Love Photography beautifully captured April and Jakkree warmly welcoming their guests as they arrived. Guests enjoyed the sunshine, signature drinks, mouthwatering appetizers - and of course, the views!
April said that her guests were especially wowed by the views at Log Cabin:
All of our guests said the venue was incredibly cozy, and the décor was amazing. They also were amazed by the views and said that being able to see the Golden Gate Bridge directly from the lawn was incredible!
April and Jakkree offered their guests a wide variety of delicious appetizers during cocktail hour:
They also had two fantastic signature drink options for guests to enjoy: the Golden Gate and the Italian Greyhound!
Following cocktails, guests entered the historic Log Cabin for the reception. The historic Log Cabin was built in 1937 and features natural wooden beams, large windows with views of the city skyline, and a cozy oversized fireplace. Stepping inside, guests were wowed by the reception space.
April and Jakkree had meticulously planned every detail, and their vision unfolded beautifully. The couple alternated hunter green and white linens with gorgeous touches of gold and terracotta accents. At the center of each table, rustic wood slabs held gorgeous arrangements of ivory, gold, and coral flowers complemented by lush greenery. A unique and personal touch was the custom-designed table numbers, each representing different national parks, courtesy of April and Jakkree's thoughtful creativity. As a final surprise, guests found chopsticks placed at each setting as charming favors to take home!
April shared that all of these unique details took some planning, and she wishes they had started a bit earlier:
The main thing I learned from this wedding planning was to definitely not wait until the last minute to do everything! We kept thinking we had a lot of time left, so we procrastinated and didn't really get our act together until three months before our big day. Even though we were able to accomplish everything we set out to do, it also meant many weekends spent at home working on design, preparations, itineraries, plans, etc. Thankfully, having a supportive partner helped a lot, and we were able to divide and conquer a lot of tasks we had together.
Fortunately, all of their hard work paid off immensely, and the reception space looked absolutely lovely. Angella, their talented florist, was particularly fond of the vibrant colors combined with the more neutral roses and greenery.
April also gave a pro tip about sourcing wedding vendors:
We chose to work with Wedgewood Weddings recommended vendors - they were fantastic and super easy to work with! I think every couple should reach out to vendors and make a pros and cons list. We went with the Log Cabin team's suggested vendors, but it's absolutely ok to go with outside vendors if you have a unique vision or style in mind.
To kick off the reception, the newlyweds made a grand entrance into the Log Cabin, enhanced by the grand sparkler moment, always an incredible photo op and a favorite among the guests.
After an unforgettable grand entrance and first dance, it was time for the much-anticipated dinner! Guests were delighted with the delicious buffet, featuring cremini mushroom chicken marsala, oven-roasted salmon with tarragon butter sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, and a prime rib carving station.
After dinner, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived - the couple cutting into their cake from Mazzetti's Bakery, a three-tiered cake with strawberry jam, banana nut with fudge, and chocolate with mocha.
The night carried on with an abundance of dancing, creating an energetic atmosphere that kept everyone on their feet. The photo booth, always popular among guests, added an extra touch of fun.
Congratulations, April and Jakkree! We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your special day and help bring your wedding vision to life. Their coordinator, Duckie, shared:
It was a pleasure celebrating with April and Jakkree! I especially loved how they incorporated both of their cultures into their wedding day.
