Luke & Lora's Fairytale Spring Wedding

Luke & Lora's Fairytale Spring Wedding

When we first met Luke and Lora, we had a feeling their wedding was going to be memorable. After all, they share a name with Luke and Laura, the super couple from the daytime soap opera General Hospital, whose 1981 wedding remains the highest-rated hour in American soap opera history!

The couple chose April to celebrate their nuptials with their 77 guests at the Jefferson Street Mansion in Benicia, CA. Luke and Lora’s personal touches were apparent from the moment guests walked into the venue and stopped by the welcome table, which featured photos of them as children and a spinning card box with photos of the couple on it. The welcome table and other client-provided décor were carefully set up by their Wedgewood Weddings day-of coordinator. One of Lora’s favorite aspects about Wedgewood Weddings is the inclusion of a day-of coordinator in every package and the support provided by the venue’s team of Wedding Experts during planning.

Lora shared, "I am SUPER grateful for how attentive and prompt you have been with answering my questions. I am so honestly glad I'm getting married at Jefferson Street Mansion and getting to work with you all!"

The ceremony took place at the venue’s Colonnade Garden, which is draped in wisteria and has stunning views of the bay. April is one of the most popular months for weddings at the mansion because the wisteria is in full bloom with its soft violet-hued flowers and sweet, floral fragrance. Wisteria is said to symbolize love and lasting romance, making it a stunning natural accent for a wedding ceremony. The couple exchanged vows beneath the mansion’s iron arch, which was decorated by the venue’s recommended florist, A Love’s in Bloom, who provided all of the florals for the event.

The theme of the wedding was Fairytale Romance with soft green and gold accents. When guests entered the tented pavilion after the ceremony, they were greeted by the venue’s decorative stone fountain, which is emblazoned with lion heads representing royalty and nobility. White florals and abundant greenery with gold accents made the fountain a stunning showpiece. White faux wisteria also hung delicately from the antique chandeliers in the tented pavilion.

The guest tables were decorated with white linens and soft green napkins that held personalized menus made by the couple. The ornate menus had a custom wax seal with the letter “L” and gold flakes hand-painted on each of them. A sprig of baby’s breath added a delicate touch of whimsy to each place setting. Floating candle centerpieces with floral wreaths and gold glitter LED candles adorned the center of the tables. Gold Chiavari chairs were provided by Quantum Party Productions.

The glittering gold and white sweetheart table backdrop by Pearlsia Décor was a focal point during the reception. Instead of doing traditional “table touches,” where the couple goes around to each table to take photos with their guests, Luke and Lora had their guests come to the sweetheart table to ensure they had photos with every guest. Their DJ from iMobile DJs facilitated the “reverse table touches” by calling each guest table up for a photo with the couple before dinner. After dinner, Luke and Lora played an endearing version of “The Shoe Game,” a classic wedding reception game where the bride and groom answer questions about their relationship by raising their own shoe or their partner’s shoe, with questions provided by their guests.

As day turned into night, lighting also played an important part in the magical ambiance of the wedding reception. The venue provided light green accent lighting, which was changed to Lora’s favorite color, magenta, for open dancing. The orange tree in the tented pavilion was adorned with twinkling LED tea lights suspended by twine in glass globes, providing a beautiful backdrop for the wedding cake by Le Gateau Elegant.
