Tell us about your journey in the wedding and events industry!
My journey with Wedgewood Weddings started a little over two years ago. I had recently moved to Arizona from Nebraska after receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management with my Event Planning Specialty (try saying that mouthful every time!). After 5 years in the hospitality industry, I came across a coordinator position at one of our other properties in Arizona. I quickly learned the key essentials and grew into the Catering Manager position. The venue grew out of Wedgewood Weddings, and I transferred to Colby Falls.
I've really enjoyed growing and learning at Colby Falls. I was also given the opportunity to support a venue in California for a month. That opportunity really showed me how Wedgewood Weddings emphasizes its core values and close relationships, no matter which venue you're at.

What do you enjoy most about working for Wedgewood Weddings?
One of our core values is to have fun, and that's always been my favorite! I have always felt supported and heard in this company. Even though our job is to make our couples' wedding planning stress-free, we're able to keep a positive and fun attitude in our day-to-day work life.
Can you share a memorable wedding planning experience that reminds you why you love this work?
I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding for this young, lively couple with the most kind-hearted family. Throughout the planning process, they became a part of the Wedgewood Weddings family and I really got to know their family. The bride had 3 sisters, and a while later, her sister got engaged and decided to hold her wedding at the same venue! I got to coordinate for her sister on her day too! I let them know I'd be moving to Colby Falls, half-jokingly, that I hoped to coordinate for the youngest sister. A year later, the whole family showed up for the youngest sister's tour at Colby Falls! She told me that she remembered I was at Colby Falls and had hoped for me to be there. I am utterly thrilled to get to be a part of the last daughter’s big day! This wonderful experience helps me reflect back on the most amazing part of my job - bringing happiness and joy on such a special day.

What skills from your hospitality degree help you succeed in your role?
Although my college studies feel like a lifetime away now, I have always loved this industry. I love hospitality because it allows you to bring the joy of home to others. Also, hospitality tends to be around joyous times in people's lives, and I get to help bring that to fruition. I love helping to create memories for people, it brings so much joy to my work.
