What made you fall in love with Wedding Photography?
There are very few things in our lives that truly last forever. Cars break down, houses change, jobs come and go—but the memories of a wedding day are timeless. These images are far more than just photographs; they are heirlooms that will be cherished for generations to come. They are the visual storytelling of love, joy, and commitment, preserved not just for you, but for your children and their children after them.
What draws us to wedding photography is the honor of capturing these once-in-a-lifetime moments. It’s the quiet exchange of a look between a couple, the laughter shared among friends, and the tears of joy from family. These moments are genuine, unrepeatable, and filled with emotion.
Our passion comes from knowing that the work we do today will continue to tell your story long after the day has passed. We love being part of this amazing moment in time, preserving memories that will allow you to relive your wedding day over and over again. It’s this profound sense of purpose and connection that fuels our love and appreciation for what we do.

What were photography must-haves at your wedding? Why?
When I look back at my wedding, which was 13 years ago, the photos that mean the most to me are the ones that capture pure joy. It’s not just about seeing everyone smiling—it's about feeling the energy of that day all over again.
One of the images I cherish most is of my aunt. She passed away five years ago, but every time I see the photos of her laughing and dancing at my wedding, it brings me so much happiness. It’s as if, through those images, I can still share a moment with her, hear her laughter, and hold onto that beautiful memory a little longer.
Another favorite is a photo of my son. He was seven at the time, with a mischievous grin and a few missing teeth, giving me the biggest hug. Now, at 20 years old, he’s a grown man—but that picture instantly transports me back to a time when he was still my little guy.
And then there’s the photo of my wife and I during our first dance. It captures a quiet, intimate moment where it felt like the whole world faded away, and it was just the two of us, sharing a quiet conversation only we could hear. I know it may sound cheesy to say, but that image is more than a picture—it’s a gateway to a moment I’ll never forget.
Of course, I also love the classic family portraits, with everyone looking their best. Ironically, those are the ones that ended up on my walls—the formal, polished photos that freeze a moment in time with all of us together.
For me, the must-haves were a blend of authentic, candid moments and timeless, traditional portraits. Each type of photo serves its own purpose, and together they create a complete and heartfelt story of our wedding day. By the way, I hired True Photography & Video for my own wedding. I got a great deal… Ha!
Should I do a First Look?
There’s no right or wrong choice. What matters most is what feels true to you as a couple. If you’re more private and want a special moment to yourselves, a first look could be perfect. If you love the idea of tradition and sharing that emotional moment with everyone, waiting until the aisle might be the way to go.
Regardless of what you choose, our job is to authentically capture those moments, ensuring you can relive them through your photos and videos for years to come.
What constitutes a “perfect” wedding album?
When creating an album, we typically recommend including the fewest images necessary to completely tell your day's story. This approach results in a much more impactful album, showcasing only the very best photos. Rather than overwhelming the pages with repetitive images, we focus on curating a collection that offers a rich variety of backgrounds, poses, emotions, and expressions.
Our goal is to avoid redundancy and ensure that each image adds something unique to the narrative. By thoughtfully selecting a diverse range of moments—from candid laughter to quiet, intimate exchanges—we craft an album that feels fresh and engaging from the first page to the last.
A “perfect” wedding album is more than just a collection of beautiful images—it’s a storybook that captures the essence of your wedding day from start to finish. It should transport you back to each moment, allowing you to relive the joy, love, and emotion every time you flip through its pages.

How do we capture sunset footage?
For starters, we highly recommend walking from the Cuvier Club to the ocean for sunset photos. Not only does this allow for more natural and spontaneous shots, but it also opens up opportunities to capture those in-between moments that often turn out to be favorites. Regardless of where you marry, the walk you make together during sunset always provides beautiful photo opportunities. Whether it's holding hands as you stroll down the street, sharing a laugh while navigating a crosswalk, or the wind catching your dress just right—these candid moments add a layer of storytelling to your wedding album.
To make the walk comfortable, consider bringing a pair of flats or more comfortable shoes. This way, you can fully enjoy the experience and focus on the fun, knowing your feet will thank you later. Plus, swapping shoes can make for a sweet and genuine photo opportunity too! When we arrive at the ocean, our approach is to create a balanced mix of fun, lighthearted photos and soft, romantic images. We'll guide you through playful poses and natural interactions—like dancing in the sand, walking along the water’s edge, or sharing a spontaneous twirl. Then, as the sun begins to set and the sky fills with warm hues, we'll shift to capturing those quiet, intimate moments—the kind where it feels like it’s just the two of you, with the world fading into the background.
What should couples know about getting drone footage?
If we are allowed to fly, we’ll take to the skies! There are certain regulations and no-fly zones we must adhere to, and safety is always our priority. If we’re unable to fly that day, we’ll often find an alternative spot to capture beautiful scenic shots or incorporate some of our previously captured stock footage.
Please note that drone coverage is only available if videography is included in your package. To avoid distracting your guests during the ceremony, we typically fly the drone at the very beginning of our coverage or if you are doing sunset shots, ensuring we capture stunning aerial footage while keeping the focus on you.
What are “raw” photos, and should people purchase them?
Raw photos are the original, unedited, and unprintable files straight from the camera. They are large in size and contain the most detail and information, which allows our editors to make precise adjustments. Once edited, they are converted into high-resolution JPEG files that are printable and much easier to transfer and store.
Through our Image Archiving program, all of your JPEG files are securely stored on our server. Most of our clients find that they don’t need the raw photos, as these act like digital negatives. However, for those who are proficient in Photoshop or interested in doing their own editing, we offer raw photos as an optional add-on.
If you don’t plan on doing additional editing, you likely don’t need the raw photos. However, if you’d like the flexibility to edit in the future or simply want to keep them for archival purposes, it could be beneficial to purchase them.

What is one piece of photography advice you have for couples?
My biggest piece of advice for couples is this: if you want to have the “perfect” wedding day, don’t get lost in all the details. Planning and organizing are important, but all of that should happen before the big day. When the day finally arrives, take a step back and remember why you’re there.
You’ve found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, and this day is a celebration of that love. You’re surrounded by the people who matter most to you—your friends and family—all gathered together to share in this beautiful moment. That is what truly matters.
Weddings are full of moving parts, and not everything will go exactly as planned. Maybe the flower girl will take a detour down the aisle, or a breeze will tousle your hair at the wrong moment. Those surprises are often the moments that make your day even more memorable.
When you hold onto the perspective that it’s all about the two of you and the love you share, that joy and authenticity will shine through in your photographs and videos. Those genuine emotions—laughter, tears, love—are what create the most beautiful, timeless images.
Let go of perfection, embrace the realness of your day, and allow yourself to be fully present. When you do, your photos won’t just show how your day looked—they’ll show how it felt. And that is what makes your wedding memories truly memorable.
So you see, photography is much more than just taking pictures; it’s capturing those moments that make your story yours. It’s about finding the beauty in the smallest details, the quiet glances, and the smiles that fill the room. Every picture has a story—one that will live on long after the day has passed, allowing you to revisit those moments time after time and embrace those emotions felt on your special day. We’re proud to call True Photography one of our preferred photography vendors and hope that you enjoy working with them as much as we have on your wedding day.
